AI Agents With Their Own Computers: What It Means and Why It Matters
AI agents · The Pythe team · Updated 2026-10-12
An AI agent with its own computer can browse, run code, build and publish sites and make real files, not just chat. How it works in Pythe, and what to watch for.
Most AI tools give you words. An AI agent with its own computer gives you work. It opens a browser, reads pages, runs code, writes files, builds a website and checks that it loads. In Pythe, every AI employee has its own cloud computer, and that is what lets the team do things instead of describing them.
What an agent can do on its computer
- Browse real web pages and take screenshots, instead of trusting a search snippet.
- Run code and scripts, such as Python for data analysis, and read what happened.
- Read and write files in its own workspace and a shared team folder.
- Make real Excel, Word, PowerPoint and PDF files, and read the ones you upload.
- Build a website and publish it live, then open it to check it works.
- Clone a repository, make a change on a branch, run the tests and open a pull request.
Why a separate computer matters
- Isolation. The agent works in its own environment, not on your laptop or your production systems.
- Evidence. It can run the thing and show the result, so "it works" means it was run.
- Parallel work. Each employee has its own machine, so several can work at once. Premium runs up to five at the same time.
- Visibility. On Base you can see screenshots of what an agent did. On Premium you can watch its screen live.
The safety model
Agents research, draft and write files on their own. Anything that leaves Pythe, such as sending an email, posting to Slack or opening a pull request, waits for your approval unless you turn on autopilot on Premium. Computer time is metered in hours, so you can see what a month uses.
| Plan | AI employees | Computer time | Computers at once |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Pytheus only | 60 minutes | 1 |
| Base (£19 a month) | Up to 3 | 15 hours | Up to 2 |
| Premium (£39 a month) | Up to 10 | 60 hours | Up to 5 |
What is an AI agent with its own computer?
An AI agent that works inside its own cloud computer, so it can browse the web, run code, make files and build things rather than only produce text.
Is it safe to give an AI agent a computer?
In Pythe each agent works in its own isolated environment, and anything that leaves Pythe, like an email or a pull request, waits for your approval unless you enable autopilot.
Can I watch what the agent is doing?
Yes. Base shows screenshots of the agent’s computer and Premium shows a live view.
