Routines

Work your team does again and again without being asked: on a schedule, when a new email matches a search, or when a web page changes. Plus a daily email of what waits on you.

Updated 2026-10-17

A routine is a request that repeats. Each time it fires, Pytheus or the teammate who owns it does the work as an ordinary run in the routine’s chat, with the same tools and the same approvals as any other run. Anything that would leave Pythe, such as an email or a post, still waits for your OK.

When a routine runs

WhenWhat happens
Every day at a timeRuns at that time in your time zone. 09:00 stays 09:00 when the clocks change.
Every week on chosen daysRuns on those days at that time, in your time zone.
Every few hoursRuns every 1 to 168 hours. Missed slots are skipped, not caught up.
A new emailPythe looks for new mail matching a Gmail search every 10 minutes. It needs Google connected with email reading allowed. The first look only notes what is already there.
A web page changesPythe reads a public page every 30 minutes and runs when its words change. The run is told which lines were added or removed. The first reading is only a baseline.

Making one

  • Ask in chat, for example “every Monday at 9 send me competitor news”. Pytheus sets it up with create_routine and a card appears in the chat.
  • In HQ, open Work, then Routines, then New routine: give it a name, say what to do each time, pick who does it and when.
  • On a delivered run’s card, press Repeat this. The sheet opens with that request, the same agent and the same chat.

Agents have create_routine, list_routines and pause_routine. A teammate can only make, pause or resume its own routines.

Looking after them

Each row in Routines shows what it does, who does it, when it runs next and how the last run went. Tap a row to open its chat. Pause and Resume are on the row; Run now and Delete are under More.

  • If your team is busy when a routine is due, it waits and starts as soon as a slot is free.
  • If 3 runs in a row do not finish, the routine pauses itself and says so in its chat. Resuming it starts the count again.
  • A routine only fires once per slot, however many times the scheduler looks.

Daily digest

Under Routines, Email me a daily digest sends you one short email at 08:00 your time listing what waits on you: approvals, questions, work ready to review and runs from the last day that did not go to plan. Nothing is sent on a day when nothing waits. It uses no AI credits, and it stops if you turn off emails in Team settings.

How many

The daily digest does not count.
