How agent computers work
Pytheus and every employee get their own cloud computer, made the first time they need it. It sleeps when idle, is metered by the minute, and never holds your app tokens.

This is what separates Pythe from a chat box. An agent that needs to browse, run code or make a file does it on a real computer, not in its head.
What a computer is
- A cloud sandbox from Daytona, one per agent, labelled with your workspace and the agent.
- Created lazily: the first time an agent needs it, not when you hire them.
- Python 3 and Node, plus a real Chromium browser driven by Playwright, so browsing reads pages as a person would see them.
- Data and document libraries: pandas, matplotlib, openpyxl, python-docx, python-pptx, reportlab, pypdf and xlsxwriter.
- A desktop (XFCE) with a remote-view server, which is what the live view on Premium shows.
- A folder of its own at
/workspace/files, and a folder shared by the whole team at/workspace/shared.
States
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not created yet | Made on first use. |
| Setting up | Being created. |
| Waking up | Starting from sleep. |
| Running | On, and counting minutes. |
| Going to sleep | Stopping. |
| Asleep | Stopped. Files are kept. Starting it again uses compute time. |
| Archived or error | Something went wrong or it was retired. Delete it and a new one is made. |
Sleep and metering
- A computer stops itself after 10 idle minutes.
- Time is counted from when it is running, every time Pythe touches it, and written to a ledger. When your month’s minutes are used up the computer is stopped and tools that need it say so.
- Free includes 60 minutes for Pytheus, Base 15 hours, Premium 60 hours.
Without a computer
Not every job needs one. Pytheus decides by rules, and you can force it off for a message. Office files can be made without a computer: when none is available, the file is built inside Pythe instead.
What is on it, and what is not
A computer can reach the internet to install packages and read pages. It cannot send or publish through the usual routes: those are refused in code. See Guardrails.
Delete a computer
In the computer panel choose Delete. Files on it that are not in your Library are lost, and you are asked to confirm. A new computer is made when the agent next needs one. Stop puts it to sleep without deleting anything.
