Stripe, PostHog and what to measure

Connect Stripe and PostHog so the plan and the weekly review use your real numbers. “What to measure” helps you decide which few numbers matter at your stage.

Updated 2026-10-13

Stripe

  1. Press Connect. A Stripe Connect window opens on stripe.com.
  2. Pick the Stripe account. Choose the account for this company. You can switch accounts at the top right.
  3. Approve read access. Pythe never gets your API keys and cannot move money.
  4. First snapshot. The window closes and the first snapshot runs automatically, in live or test mode to match your payments setup.

Pythe syncs MRR, ARR, churn, net revenue retention, subscription counts, failed payments and customer concentration. Read-only: charges, subscriptions and customers. Refresh any time from the card.

PostHog

  1. Find your Project ID. In PostHog, open Settings, Project, General and copy the numeric Project ID.
  2. Note your host. US Cloud (us.posthog.com) or EU Cloud (eu.posthog.com).
  3. Paste and connect. Paste the Project ID, pick the matching host, then connect. Pythe validates it before saving.

Queries run server-side with read-only access. No PostHog credentials touch your browser. Pythe pulls daily and weekly active users, unique users, signups and page-view totals.

What to measure

Connecting a tool is step one. Deciding what it should measure is step two. The What to measure cards on the Connectors page open a real mission with Pytheus. It thinks the setup through with your full company context and leaves a deliverable you can come back to and hand to someone else.

How the numbers are used

  • The weekly review reads logged and connected metrics and cites them with their date.
  • Your plan’s stage graduation criteria are written in terms of metrics, such as MRR and retention.
  • Analysts can work from exports you attach.
